Taare Zameen Par -

Dear Abi,

It's nice to read a story of a child from a child's point of view. There are many hapless children on whom the parents may thrust upon their own longings and desires to achieve, which they couldn't accomplish themselves in the first place. The story of your friend crying even after scoring 97% is pathetic. One should ask his father or mother how much they had scored in their maths exam. Perhaps they would not have scored much. They are simply violating the rights of the children, aren't they?

There are many mean souls in the world who feel that their efforts should be surpassed by only their children. Do you know how much pressure they apply on their kids? They are not aware that they are trying to live their bygone dreams and fantasies through their children's life forgetting that their kids may be having their own dreams and fantasies.

I once asked my son about his marks. He was one of the top five in the school. The question I put to him is: 'You need a little better efforts to be the first one in your class'.

He retorted - 'No 1 is not my aim. I allocate my time evenly between studying and living as a child. I do not want to miss out on my childhood for whatever reason. Once lost, it would never come back to me. I know. The criteria for being successful need not be standing first in the class. So, scoring mark is my business and leave it to me'

He reads, plays, visits friends at his own free will. I watch over him with a guarded look from far away - in-fact more than three thousand kilometer away. He is growing like a tree - with his roots firmly into the ground and throwing up the branches into the sky catching up the air, light, rain and dew as the nature offers him. The branches will eventually throws up blossom full of colours among the green leaves.

This is how, a kid should understand his own life - allocating one's time between his education and enjoying his childhood. And grow like a tree. Grow tall, in all directions.
The movie you had watched had brought about the difficulties a child might undergo if the world around them fails to understand their plight. Some kids may need extra attention to make them realise themselves. Who ever had produced a movie bringing out the humanity out of the viewers should be appreciated and encouraged to make such movies to refine the way we look at evaluating the human environment.

A refined taste is one of the few things a kid should learn. And you are probably being guided in the right direction, by your father.

Grow tall, child.

Wishing you well.

Taare Zameen Par is a movie produced and directed by Aamir Khan. I enjoyed the movie very much that I watched it twice. It was a great movie and I suggest that everyone watch it especially parents. The boy's name is Ishaan. It is very upsetting to see that a nine year old boy cant read or write. His father doesnt even feel sad when he sent Ishaan to boarding school while Ishaan's mother and brother cry a lot. The movie is very emotional and has scenes that make some or maybe a lot of people cry. I cried in a lot of scenes. It might even teach a lesson to parents and make them love their children even more and make them feel lucky to have children after watching the film. My father always wanted me to get good marks. I think one of my classmates' parents make him study too much that he even cries in class if he gets 97%. He goes to tution for every subject that he is only free at 11:00 pm now that means his parents put a lot of pressure on him. The movie made every parent realise that every child is unique in their own way and have many talents like my sister is talented in singing and I am talented in computers they learn the importance of studies sooner or later and parents don't support a lot in their talents and want their children to race each other to get 1st rank and top marks. Aamir Khan says "If they fancy racing, breed racing horses not children" and I think some parents will understand this quote but some parents will get angry at this line. Thus I conclude that this movie is a very great one and it should make everyone realise how precious children are.
